Welcome to Regent Circus’ Wildflower Garden

We’ve spruced up some of our green areas here at Regent Circus to enable growth and to support local biodiversity in Swindon.

With the help of the team at TWIGS, they have educated us on developing green spaces and provided their top five tips on how you can create your own Wildflower Garden at home.

Top 5 Tips from TWIGS

• Select the best seed for your area. … find out what is growing well in other gardens / green spaces nearby.
• Choose a planting site carefully. …many wildflowers thrive in sunny locations.
• Prepare the soil. …Wildflowers often flourish in poor soils so don’t add plant food to your soil.
• Plant seeds in spring or autumn. … the temperature is critical for germination so wait for the colder weather to pass.
• Water regularly until plants are established…. and then only when the soil is looking dry.

TWIGS Community Gardens are a colourful and vibrant set of gardens in the heart of Swindon. They are managed by TWIGS as a resource to give people who experience mental health problems the chance to regain confidence, self-esteem and to learn new skills. The gardens provide plenty of different ideas to take home to your own garden, along with plants and craft goods to enhance it.
